Twenty-three, high resolution cameras are being installed this week in Eau Claire and along North Main St. Each portable box contains four cameras pointing in all directions. Leaders say Eau Claire has been branded as a high crime area for too long, and they will no longer tolerate it. The video recoring system installed is the same one that led to arrests in an arson fire, dog thefts at a local animal shelter and the beating of a Columbia man.
